This is a map of ice surface velocities across Antarctica, with flow particles drawn over a map of ice flow speed.

The flow animation was inspired by NASA SVS videos in Antarctic Ice Flow Charted From Space.

This animation was made with LLM assistance to apply the Leaflet particle flow ideas in onaci/leaflet-velocity and IHCantabria/Leaflet.CanvasLayer.Field to ice velocities in the EPSG:3031 coordinate system.

The 'interior flow boost' slider speeds up particles in slow-moving regions for visual effect. Setting the slider to zero removes this effect.

Particle velocities are not to scale! True ice speeds are way slower than the particles speeds on the map.

Velocity maps are derived from NSIDC-0756 and NSIDC-0484.
